Essentials of Heritage Science

Two day online workshop running on 7 and 9 October 2026

This course is for professional conservator-restorers and associated heritage professionals who want to improve their understanding of science in conservation and collections‑based work.

Throughout the course, participants will develop a scientific mindset for framing research questions and planning appropriate testing approaches, while also considering the ethical and practical implications of different methods. The course provides guidance on accessing analytical facilities and specialist support, enabling participants to make informed choices about when to undertake scientific work themselves and when to seek expert collaboration.
