10 – 12 April 2013 - Positive Futures in an Uncertain World (PF13)

Icon is delighted to announce that we are holding our next international conference at the University of Glasgow 10th to 12th April 2013.  We are greatly looking forward to the opportunity to work with colleagues at the University of Glasgow and with the wider cultural community in Scotland to explore different perspectives on the past, present and future of our heritage.

This two-day conference will include a plenary session on themes of interest across conservation and cultural heritage (Day 1) followed by a day of concurrent sessions organised by specialist groups and partners. There will be a pre-conference programme of tours and an “icebreaker” event, as well as a conference dinner. A Call for Papers will be going out in May 2012.

The venue is the University of Glasgow, a complex of buildings of outstanding architectural interest by Sir George Gilbert Scott in Gothic Revival Style. We have booked the main Bute Hall (holds 450) for the plenary session, and the Hunter Hall for catering and Trade Show. Other buildings on the campus provide break out meeting rooms for the second day.

Icon members are invited to get involved in the following aspects of the conference. Students are particularly encouraged to join in and each working group will have a student member on it. We would like to organise a session for students and emerging professionals.
