GRANTS to help cover the PACR application fee are available from:

  • The Glaziers Trust for stained glass conservators

  • Icon Scotland Group The Group administers a small grant specifically to help Scottish conservators with the costs of the PACR accreditation process. Applicants must be members of Icon, members of Icon Scotland Group and should be living and working in Scotland. A form for application can be downloaded from the Scotland Group page of the Icon website

Register of Intention form to register for an application round

As soon as you decide you are intending to go forward for accreditation, you need to identify which application round is a realistic goal and then complete and return the Register of Intention form with the initial fee ( as noted above) to the Institute of Conservation at the following adress:

 PACR Officer
 Institute of Conservation
 PO Box 7452
 Hilton, Blandford Forum
 Dorset DT11 1BU

You must have registered in order to apply for a specific round. Your application will not be considered if you have not previously registered your intention to apply. You may find, having registered your intention to apply, that you are unable to meet the application deadline. If this happens you will be able to defer to the next round. Only if you defer again will your Register of Intention fee be forfeited and you will need to send a new Register of Intention form and pay the fee again.

Finding a mentor for PACR

You do not have to have a mentor but you are strongly advised to seek one as soon as you start to think about applying for accreditation.  The mentor you choose must be PACR accredited because they will be familiar with the professional standards. It is not necessary for the mentor to work in your conservation specialism.  If you do not know anyone who can act as your mentor the PACR mentoring scheme operates to put applicants in touch with a mentor.

Please remember that a mentor is not an emergency helpline service. Mentors are volunteers and you need to allow plenty of time (several months) for the mentor relationship  to be set up and for it to provide you with the support you need. Requests for mentors received two months or less prior to an application deadline cannot be processed because there would be limited support time available.

A list of PACR mentors is available from Shulla Jaques, PACR Administrative Assistant. If you would like help finding a mentor please complete the mentee_application_form and return to Shulla Jaques.
