Accreditation - Where does the money go? PDF Print E-mail

Fees
From 1 April 2008 PACR fees are as follows:

- To be paid together with your Register of Intention - £75 (non-refundable)
- To be paid together with your completed Application - £450 (please note that this amount will be refunded if you do not proceed to assessment)

Professional accreditation requires a major investment of voluntary time as well as financial resources.  There is a charge for the assessment visit (£525) and an ongoing charge which Icon ACRs (accredited conservators) pay each year on top of their normal membership fees (£79).

The fees we charge do not cover the full cost of professional accreditation scheme.  Professional accreditation is subsidised by the general membership.  For the years 2008-13 this subsidy is marginal, but it has historically been considerably larger.  Also bear in mind that a great deal of work which goes into professional accreditation is unpaid and costs you nothing.

Every candidate going through the assessment process takes:
  • 28 hours of unpaid work by accredited conservators working on the Accreditation Committee to review applications, recommend assessors, review asessors' reports and provide feedback to both candidates and assessors, as well as to attend assessor training.
  • If you ask for a mentor to help you prepare for accreditation, any time they put into supporting you is unpaid time you receive for free, including the time they spend training as a mentor.

For ACRs submitting their annual CPD review it takes:
  • 5 hours of unpaid work by accredited conservators acting as CPD readers each time your CPD is called up, to read your CPD record and provide feedback, as well as to attend CPD reader training

To continue developing and expanding our professional accreditation, we always need more people to play their part.  When you become an ACR please consider putting something back into PACR and contributing some time by acting as an assessor, a mentor or a CPD reader.  Please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it  if you are interested.
