An outstanding opportunity to grow and shape the leading voice for those engaged in conservation of cultural heritage in the UK. The Institute of Conservation (Icon) is a membership charity committed to promoting the public’s understanding of and access to all the diverse elements of our cultural heritage.
Icon's membership embraces the wider conservation community incorporating not only professional conservators but all others who share a commitment to improving understanding of and access to our cultural heritage.
This is a fantastic opportunity to nurture and enhance this unique organisation, developing its vision and strategy and leading a committed team. The position would suit someone with strong financial, business planning, leadership and general management skills. Your experience may have been built up in the private, public or voluntary sectors but you will be able to adapt those skills to a small organisation capable of punching well above its size.
Experience of leading and implementing strategic thinking and developing policy is essential as is expertise in developing financial stability. Excellent communication and influencing skills are a must as well as a hands on approach. Your background may not be in conservation or cultural heritage but you must have a passion for this area of work. You will already be in a management or leadership position and ready to tackle the responsibility and profile offered by this Chief Executive role.
Icon aims to advance knowledge and education in conservation and achieve the long term preservation of our cultural heritage. It does this by providing guidance, advocacy, training and education opportunities and by uniting the conservation profession and the wider heritage community. You will lead Icon through the major changes anticipated within the sector. This is an exciting time to join an organisation which is a leader in its field.
