1. Instructions for arrival at the workshop and conference venue Entrance each day is via the Jodrell Gate on Kew Road (postcode TW9 3DS).Please use the entryphone to gain entrance.The Jodrell Gate is a private gate about 10 minutes stroll from Kew Gardens station (Underground, North London Line) and Kew Bridge Station (trains from Clapham Junction/Waterloo).For a map, see: http://www.multimap.com/s/QEgCxcxq Participants can leave the Gardens via the Jodrell Gate at any time (please use the entryphone) and by the public gates up to 6pm.
Please note that there is *no entry* to the workshop or conference through the public gates. 

2. Practical hints re Kew

Kew village (next to Kew Gardens station) is small but has a good range of shops including a bank, pharmacy, post office, small supermarket, and several cafes (Caffe Torelli has the best coffee).Participants will be given a map of Kew Gardens. The Gardens are open from 9.30am to 6pm, with the glasshouses, galleries and treetop walkway closing about 30 minutes beforehand.The public parts of the Jodrell Laboratory, where most of the workshop sessions, and the conference, are being held, have wifi access for your laptops. Log-in details will be given on arrival. We don't have public computers, but it will be possible to arrange limited access to staff desk-top machines for email, flight check-ins etc.If you wish to buy any Kew publications (catalogue at www.kewbooks.com) please bring cash, and we will arrange to buy them at staff discount (20%). 

One Day Conference 18 September 2010:
A one-day event discussing the conservation, construction and collection care issues of basketry. Speakers from national and international museums and institutions.  Speakers will cover relevant conservation treatment issues and solutions as well as the role of conservators in collaboration with indigenous communities.
