The consultation meeting held on the 9th of July at Camberwell was attended by 45 educators and employers and many others involved in conservation training. Icon is grateful to everyone who made it to Camberwell and to all of you who sent in feedback on the documents in advance of the meeting.

Everyone worked hard to meet the goals of the day which were:

- to reach agreement that these are the right directions of the strategy

- to reach agreement that Icon is the right organisation to lead on the strategy

- to build on the current draft action plan in more detail

- to agree a short-list of actions from the plan to take forward

It was a very useful exercise. We were able to review the strategy in the light of recent economic and political shifts, and to think creatively about how we might take things forward in the current climate. There was general agreement on most of the content, with some very useful additions and changes in emphasis. The meeting acknowledged the need for much greater clarity of expression so that everyone could understand the documents.

Icon  will now produce  a second draft, taking into account the input from the meeting and the feedback provided by our colleagues who were not able to attend. This second draft will be put on the Icon website and invitations sent out to the wider cultural sector asking stakeholders to comment. If you have not yet commented and you would like to, it is not too late.
